Welcome to The Multiplex, the new synth/disco project out of San Diego, California! Little is known about this eccentric disco regurgitation. The man behind the magic is Andy Tolley, or A-Drive, as he likes to be called. A native San Diegan who, according to The Multiplex’s Facebook page, has formed many other groups, including, but not limited to, Airport 81 and Alpha Channel, A-Drive is single handedly bringing back a subculture that most of us hoped would never be resurrected.
Fans of The Ting Tings and other manifestations of annoying, overly repetitive, synth-driven drivel are encouraged to check out The Multiplex’s newest singles: “The Glitz” and “Designer Jeans.” While some, myself included, may find it all but impossible to make it through all three and a half minutes of “The Glitz,” the more masochistic of listeners will surely appreciate this musical dentist’s drill.
To all the sinners and desperados of this cruel, unforgiving world: HOORAY! There now exists a form of self-punishment that will balance your karmic scales. Lady Justice herself will smile upon your sullen face when she hears of your great sacrifice. Because that’s just what listening to The Multiplex is: a sacrifice. A sacrifice of your hard-earned time, of your good and honest sensibilities. Please, my dear and fellow music lovers, listen to The Multiplex at your own risk. Whether it is morbid curiosity or a deep-seated longing for pain that guides you, the grating noise that is The Multiplex is sure to satisfy.
